How it works
Set a practice focus, choose a duration and pick a tempo. Starting the session starts its countdown and the metronome together. Microphone access remains off until you enable the tuner yourself. You can pause and resume the session, reset the timer, or change the tempo as you work. Pausing a session stops the metronome and microphone. A completed session also stops active timing and microphone input.
Formula
The countdown uses elapsed clock time instead of subtracting one second per interval. The metronome uses the Web Audio clock, while the timer uses a monotonic browser clock. They serve different jobs: regular musical pulses and a clear session duration.
Example
Try ten minutes of slow chord changes at 80 BPM. Tune first, then use headphones if you keep the tuner running alongside the clicks. The session pauses when its tab is hidden, and it never resumes sound automatically. Tempo, tuning reference and session preferences are saved on this device, but running sessions do not continue across navigation or reloads.
Assumptions and limitations
Use one clear sustained note for tuning. Noise, harmonics, room acoustics and microphone quality can affect the reading. Reference tones and clicks may be picked up by the microphone; use headphones when combining tools. This is a browser practice aid, not a calibrated measurement instrument.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account or an app?
No. The tools run in a modern browser. Audio starts from a button press, and the tuner needs microphone permission on HTTPS or localhost.
Is microphone audio recorded or uploaded?
No. Audio is analyzed locally in memory. It is not recorded, uploaded or played back through the speakers.
What happens when I leave the tab?
The metronome and tones stop, the microphone is released and the session timer pauses. Start again when you return.
